Message in a bottle

MessageBottle2.jpg

Some of the money we raise finances a life-saving project helping frail, elderly and those living alone to store vital medical and personal information for use of emergency services.

The “Message in a Bottle” scheme was started by a police officer in Perth, Scotland and has been taken up by Lions and other clubs around the country. People taking part fill in a short form with name, doctor, medication and other useful information.

The information is stored in a plastic bottle in the fridge – an easily-identifiable location. A label is placed inside the front door of the house and on the fridge to draw attention of emergency services. Free kits are available from doctors’ surgeries, pharmacists and other locations.

For help obtaining a bottle, or questions, email info@harpenden-lions.co.uk or telephone the helpline 0845 833 7426.
